Installing the Workflow Designer

The Workflow Designer is one of the primary components that must be installed. It can be installed on either the same machine as the Workflow Server and/or Subscriber, or on a different machine.

Note: During the installation process, you may be prompted to install required Windows components. More info.

Note: A license is not required to install the Workflow Designer. You can install it on as many different machines as you need. More info.

To install the Workflow Designer

  1. Open the Laserfiche Workflow autorun. A menu displaying installation options will appear.
  2. Important: There are separate Workflow Designer installations for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database. To ensure you install the correct version, use the appropriate autorun (e.g., if you prefer to use Microsoft SQL Server as your Workflow DBMS, use the Microsoft SQL Server autorun, not the Oracle Database autorun).

  3. Select Install 32-bit Laserfiche Workflow or Install 64-bit Laserfiche Workflow.
  4. Select Install Laserfiche Workflow Designer.
  5. Select a language for the installation wizard to be displayed in and click OK.

Note: This setting only applies to the Workflow Designer installation wizard. It does control the language that will be used for any other Workflow components or wizards.

  6. In the installation wizard's Welcome step, click Next.
  7. In the License Agreement step, read the terms of the license agreement. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  8. In the Destination Folder step, specify where on your machine you want to install the Workflow Designer. Click Next.
  9. In the Setup Type step, select an install configuration. Selecting Complete installs all components (the Workflow Designer and the Workflow 8 Administration Console). Selecting Custom enables you to configure which components are installed. Click Next.
  10. Optional: If you selected the Custom install option, select the components you want to install in the Custom Setup step. Click Next.
  11. In the Ready to Install the Program step, click Install.
  12. At the end of the installation, click Finish.

Note: Install and configure the additional Workflow 8 components before using the Workflow Designer.
